Manie Musicale FAQ

When does the competition run?

• You can begin competing in FluentKey’s competition with your students on March 16th, but the official Manie Musicale competition run by Mme. Carbonneau and Mme. Fournier starts on March 17th. The official Manie Musicale website can be found here. The competition ends on the same day as the official competition: April 15th. Winners will be revealed on April 16th.

Are prizes available?

• Absolutely! Check out our Prizes page for more info.

Do FluentKey Assignments qualify for Manie Musicale ranking points?

• Unfortunately not this year. Only FluentKey Live. Next year we’ll make sure to have Assignments ready for Manie Musicale points.

My classes were cancelled due to Coronavirus. Can we still compete?

What is the minimum class size for the competition?

• You can play FluentKey Live with any class size, but to be eligible for prizes, your class needs to have at least 5 students competing.

What types of quizzes are available for the competition?

• Each video for the competition has a comprehension quiz in French, a comprehension quiz in English, a Scramble/Put In Order quiz, and a fill in the blank quiz. We recommend the Scramble/Put In Order quiz for your French 1 students!

Do I have to use the FluentKey Official quiz for Manie Musicale or can I make my own?

• To participate in the competition, you have to use a FluentKey Official quiz, BUT if you make your own quiz, you can email us with a link to the video and ask us to feature the quiz. If the quiz is made well, we can feature the quiz for you, and then you’ll be able to use the quiz for the contest. Please give us 24 hours to review and feature your quiz.

My students didn’t get the scores they wanted. Can we play the FluentKey Live again to try to get a higher score?

• Of course! Each song will only be counted once. We’ll choose your best score for that song.

Do I need to create classes on FluentKey to compete in the competition?

• Yes, otherwise we have no way to track class scores across videos.

Do my students need to be logged in for the individual student prizes?

• Yes, otherwise we have no way to track student scores across videos.

Do my students need to be logged in for the class prizes?

• No, but the teacher does need to have classes created and selected when starting FluentKey Live for the videos, otherwise we have no way to track your class’ scores across videos.

I have a student who cannot eat pizza for dietary reasons, what happens if we win the prize?

• We will work with you to accommodate your students who have special dietary needs.
